I've heard that We'll Never Be Apart  has a slight magical realism tint to it and that's what made me initially so interested in this one (not sure about this information though). I mean the blurb does sound really interesting (even though a slight We Were Liars vibe definitely is there), but the potential blurry line between reality and fantasy always makes me extra excited.

  1. This sounds like a mix of We Were Liars and Mara Dyer to me, which are both books that I love, so maybe this one could be great too! I love it when you can't really trust your narrator, when reality and fantasy are jumbled up. Great pick!

    1. I still have to read Mara Dyer, but I've heard it's a pretty captivating read :) I really love it too when unreliable narrators are included - makes everything so mysterious.

  3. Interesting... and yeah... it really does sound like a mix between quite a few YA books I've read. Did you read Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver? It's very interesting how some people are able to weave magical realism into a book and it seems just another part of reality and you don't even have to suspend disbelief. I like that. Happy Reading! 1. I haven't read Vanishing Girls, but I'd really like to at some point :) I really enjoy talented writes how can weave magic seamlessly to their books too, it's a shame that more authors don't do it.

  13. I love dark reads especially psychological thrillers because I love to be kept guessing so this sounds awesome. The magical realism element reminds me of a movie I saw, I think it was Shutter Island? Definitely adding to my TBR!
