✿ What else I've been up to this week ✿

1. Decision about reading classics. Do you ever get the feeling that you should be reading more classics? Well, I do. I know that I shouldn't feel any pressure, but I have to admit that occasionally, I do. After all, classics are classics for a reason. And besides, some of my favourites novels are classics like Pride and Prejudice and Frankenstein. So, I thought I'd challenge myself a bit - I'm planning to read at least one classic per month. This month: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (this is more of a modern classic though).

2. More diverse posts. At the moment, my blog mainly consists of reviews and weekly memes. I've been thinking it quite often now, that I should write more posts that aren't just about reviews or TBR lists, but are book-related some other way. For example, about what are my thoughts on audiobooks, fan fiction, blogging-related things, etc. It would actually be pretty to write a bit different kind of posts for a change. Of course, I have big plans for that now, but hopefully I actually manage to write down some of those ideas.

✿ Have a lovely Sunday! ✿

  1. I have never felt under pressure to read more classics-I just don't like them and have no interest in reading them, so I don't bother. If someone makes comments to me about my reading tastes not having enough classics I just get tell to get stuffed! Too many of my friends seem obsessed with what they feel they should be reading to please other people instead of reading what they want to read. In your case it's different because you obviously want to read more of the classics and that's fine!

I agree about the diverse posts. I feel my blog is in need of some more debate and discussion posts instead of just memes and reviews. I'm planning a few more favourites lists and a few posts about blogging and reading topics, maybe a few more fun things.

    1. I get it if someone doesn't want to read classics. They are usually really heavy and require (often) tons of concentration to get most out of them. That's exactly why I don't end up reading more classics, because I often read to escape all the thinking that already do. YA novels for example give a good excuse not to think for a while and escape into exciting new worlds and adventures without overthinking and analysing everything. :)

  2. Yes on the classics! I feel guilty and even sign up for the Back to the Classics challenge to try and read more of them. I only managed to read 3 last year, but that was 2 more than the previous year. I am going to start with shorter classics and try to build up to a few larger ones. I like the idea of diverse posts and I often read other people's posts on books to movies, audios, and memes like Harry Potter Moments. I would be interested in reading your diverse posts.

    1. That's a really good idea to start with shorter ones! I think I need to do that myself too. :) It encourages to read more of them when you see that it doesn't have to take ages to finish a classic. And good to know that more diverse posts would be welcome - thanks!

  3. I would enjoy seeing The Duff, primarily because of the actress Mae Whitman. She is awesome.

I had better hurry and read my copy of Paper Towns before the movie release!

Enjoy your week...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. I'm trying to read more classics but since I'm so overloaded in books right now I'm sticking to the shorter ones. There's so many that I missed along the way I have plenty to choose from. Have a great week!

    1. I know exactly how you feel! Juggling between different TBR lists can be exhausting, and at least my priorities often are the newest novels that have come out. :/ Thanks for stopping by Katherine!

  5. I wish that I read more nonfiction to be honest. I have a ton of nonfiction on my TBR list but when it comes to picking up a book to read I usually go for the fiction. I'm hoping to change that this year but I haven't been successful as of yet. Good luck with your classics goal!

    1. I'd love to read more autobiographies :) There are so many interesting memoirs out there that just call out to me, but I never end up picking them up. :( Thanks for stopping by Samantha!

  6. I think I used to feel pressured to read classics, just because they really do show so much richness in literature and its history. I love finding out how things were said or done before, in comparison to today. I think it's a case by case basis though, and while it's good to read them because there's so many great things about them, there's no need to feel pressured :)

  7. I don't exactly feel pressured to read classics, but I do enjoy reading classics every now and then. I usually read at least a few every year, sometimes because I have to read certain books for class, and other times just because I feel like it.
Have a terrific Thursday, Sofia. Sorry it's taken me so long to visit :)
