Top Ten Tuesday (#24): Beach Bag

Top Ten Tuesday this week is about

Books that I plan to have in my beach bag
(In no particular order)

1. Golden Compass (His Dark Materials #1) by Philip Pullman
2. Talon (Talon #1) by Julie Kagawa
3. Seraphina (Seraphina #1) by Rachel Hartman

4. Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand
5. Evertrue (Everneath #3) by Brodi Ashton
6. The Burning Sky (The Elemental Trilogy #1) by Sherry Thomas

7. Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta
8. The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1) by Mary E. Pearson
9. Cress (Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer

10. The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke

Now, you may ask, why these books? All of these books have two things in common 1) they are young adult books 2) they are fantasy books. Those are the two main things that I usually look for in a book when trying to relax with it. And what's often associated with relaxing? Beach. So at least for me, these fantasy books would make perfect beach reads. Without even mentioning that they've been on my TBR list for ages (as you can see all of them were published in  2014 or earlier).....

  1. I recently read The Kiss of Deception and really enjoyed it! I heard that everyone tries to guess who the assassin and who the prince is, so I did as well. It's really fun!

And The Assassin's Curse is great as well. A very cute fantasy -if that is possible. And of course, I adore Cress.

    Happy reading! :D

  6. I'm with you: fantasy novels make for the best beach reads! And as I totally LOVED The Golden Compass, Boundles (ALL THE FEELINGS), The Burning Sky, Finnikin of the Rock and The Kiss of Deception, I think you're in for a treat. And also that you have really good taste in books ;)

  8. I love your choices! Seraphina is such a good book - beautifully written and such a fresh and interesting idea. I loved it, it's just a shame the sequel doesn't live up to the promise of the first book :( I hope you enjoy relaxing with all of these, there are some great choices!

    1. Oh, what a shame! But that tends to happen with sequels. I'm not 100% sure about this, but wasn't Seraphina meant to be a stand-alone first (or am I just making that up)? If so, it could explain why the second instalment didn't live up to the promise.

    1. I've had The Kiss of Deception since last summer too, and I just bought Talon this spring. I think quite many of us bookdragons have a bad habit of buying lots of books than then not having time for them haha. :)

  17. You've got some fantastic fantasy picks on here! (Especially Cress! Have you read Fairest yet?) I tend to gravitate more to fantasy in the winter, but summer is perfect if you have time to invest in those epic stories!

    1. I've always wondered about that in people (as in how they tend to certain read certain genres in specific season), because more of a read-what-you-can-when-you-can kind of type :D I can't really organise my reading at all like you do which is kind of a shame because it would be nice to read something fluffy in the summer, but that's not how my mind works. Okay, stop rambling. Thanks for stopping by Christina! :)

  18. So many great fantasy books there! I would never have thought beach and fantasy go together but on my last holiday I devoured The Bone Season and it worked so well! I loved Cress too, so I hope you enjoy that one. Great choices :)
